Work Experience at Westonbirt
My work experience at Westonbirt has helped me to understand the way people can pull together to create something beautiful, however it take lots of work in order to do so. I have also expanded my knowledge about the site itself and gained a greater understanding of nature’s beauty over the course of this week.
Immersing myself in nature
At the beginning of the week, I began my work experience by working with the Tree Team which was a great way to immerse myself in nature as well as to understand it better than I previously had. It was very insightful seeing how the site is run and maintained by a team working together to help keep Westonbirt available for the public.
The impact of nature
During the week, I had the opportunity to work with a visiting school as well as a group of adults with partial sight. I enjoyed watching both groups stepping out of their comfort zones to experience and try new activities with great success. Furthermore, I loved seeing the effect that nature had on both groups resulting in both awe and amazement.
Working with the team
Throughout the week, I had the pleasure of working with people that are extremely passionate about their jobs and wish to help others experience the beauty of nature for themselves. For me, this is very pleasing because over the years, Westonbirt has always amazed me and I have grown to love it even more over this week as well as to appreciate the work that the staff here put into conservation and maintenance of nature. I have also learnt a great deal about the history of Westonbirt including how it was founded by Robert Holford as well as the rarity and history of some of the trees found on site.
