6 reasons you'll want to Run for the Trees
1. Make a difference
By running for the trees at Westonbirt you will be helping to:
- stem the tide of biodiversity loss and help preserve, protect and expand our shared natural heritage both here in the UK and around the world
- ensure that every person has the opportunity to develop, nurture and grow their connection to nature through education
- enable more people to access Westonbirt Arboretum regardless of disability or other barriers to entry
If you choose to be a Westonbirt Runner you’re helping yourself and Westonbirt Arboretum to thrive!
2. Raise funds for a cause close to your heart
Running for a good cause you truly care about is an incredible thing to do. By raising money for Westonbirt Arboretum you could fund seed-collecting trips to conserve a threatened species, enable a day out in nature for vulnerable people, provide access to mobility scooters for people with disabilities to explore without barriers or give young people an opportunity to learn and care about our environment.
If you choose to sign up to Run for the Trees you’ll share your achievements along the way with others and help to spread awareness of our important cause.
3. Protect Trees and Enrich Lives
We couldn’t look after the arboretum without you! Marc Alexander, raised over £1,000 at the last Westonbirt 10K, here’s why Marc Runs for the Trees:
"I fundraise for The Friends because if you've ever been to Westonbirt Arboretum, you'll not only be blown away by its striking beauty but you'll understand the scale and complexity of the work that's involved to keep it looking like that. Not only is it a haven for so much wildlife, but it's a mental health booster for humans and their fluffy companions.
The team at The Friends do so much more outside of this like workshops for local schools, the Silk Wood Conservation Project, the recently completed, stunning, Community Shelter and the recently purchased Silk Wood house which opens up a plethora of opportunities for the growth of the arboretum.
This team of dedicated legends needs all the help that they can get and I'm here for them!"
